  • Position Summary
    • The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) is a licensed health care provider that works under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. OTA's will carry out occupational therapy programs to help patients relieve pain and improve function from injury and disease to reach their optimal physical abilities to achieve long term health benefits. 
  • Education and Experience Requirements
    • EDUCATION:
      • Required:
        • Completion of an accredited occupational therapist assistant program 
      • Preferred:
    • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
      • Required:
        • Active OTA license from Iowa Board of Occupational Therapy
        • BLS
      • Preferred:
        • Valid Drivers License
    • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      • Required:
        • None required if education and licensure are met
      • Preferred:
  • Essential Job Functions
    • Carry out occupational therapy plans of care for inpatient and outpatient populations
    • Utilize electronic medical record to record daily notes and gather information from supervising occupational therapist and communicate needs for supervision from occupational therapist in accordance to Iowa code. 
    • Supervise rehabilitation technicians, and other rehabilitation services support staff. 
    • May effectively work with a variety of age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics.
    • Maintain licensure through approved continuing education hours as required by the state of Iowa.
    • Maintains familiarity with carious types of medical insurance and assist with monitoring treatment and authorization limitations from insurance carriers.
    • Perform other related duties as required from rehabilitation director.
